Indonesia Implements Stricter Visa Regulations for Tourists

Must Read

Indonesia has made new rules about visas. These rules are stricter now, and they want everyone to follow them. They are also making sure everyone is safe and no one is doing bad things.

TrabelBiz says that these rules are to keep visitors safe and make sure they follow visa rules. This also helps to protect Indonesia and stop bad things from happening.

The government’s main goal is to keep the borders safe and to stop illegal things from happening.

What’s New:

The government wants to show they are serious about keeping the immigration system safe. They want everyone to know it’s important to follow visa rules:

  • Now, if someone breaks the visa rules, the punishment is much harsher. Before, breaking these rules could mean one year in jail, but now it can mean up to 20 years.
  • To fight against bad activities, a new plan called Operation Jagratara has started. This operation makes sure that everyone follows the visa rules and helps stop people who don’t. This also keeps the border safe and warns others not to break the law.

In 2024, they sent back more than 400 people who broke the visa rules. This shows what could happen if you don’t follow the rules.

Officials say it’s important to keep both tourists and locals safe from problems due to illegal immigration.

If visitors follow the rules like getting a 30-day visa when they arrive or a 60-day extension, they will have no problem with the new rules. These changes mostly affect those who stay too long or use their visas the wrong way.

To make sure everyone follows the rules, 125 new officers will be sent to Bali, a favorite place for tourists. They want to stop illegal things from happening and keep Bali a nice place to visit.

These officers will use 20 Jeeps and 20 motorcycles to watch over Bali, making sure everyone follows the rules, and can quickly act if someone doesn’t.

For their safety, officers can carry firearms when they need to handle dangerous situations, especially with crime that crosses many countries.

Silmy Karim, from TravelBiz, says these tough measures, with the officers carrying firearms, are really important to keep tourists and locals safe from big dangers.

The new visa rules also aim to stop bad groups from doing crime and want to make the place safer for everyone visiting.

These rules are there to make things safer for people living in Indonesia and those visiting. A safe place makes people want to visit more and gives Indonesia a good reputation.

With more checkpoints, the government wants to carefully watch who comes in and goes out of the country. This helps know who’s entering or exiting and manage safety and immigration risks better.
