Joann Kelly is the daughter of R. Kelly, a famous American singer. She shared that her dad hurt her when she was little.
Joann talked about this in a special TV show on TVEI Streaming Network. She said she told her mom, Drea, about it in 2009.
Now, Joann is 26 years old. In the show called ‘Karma: A Daughter’s Journey,’ she didn’t say exactly what happened. But she did say that her dad’s punishment is fair.
Joann said, “My dad meant a lot to me. I didn’t want to think he could do bad things. I thought he wouldn’t do anything bad to me even if he was not a nice person.”
She added, “I was really afraid to tell anyone, even my mom. I feel like everything changed in just a moment. It changed my life, who I was, and the brightness I had inside.”
After telling her mom, Joann and her brother Robert and sister Jaah didn’t visit their dad anymore. She still finds it hard to deal with it.
When asked about the show, R. Kelly’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, said the claims are not true.
The singer, R. Kelly, got a 20-year prison sentence in February 2023 for bad things related to children. He will serve this sentence along with another 30-year sentence he got in New York in July 2022.
