Ikorodu City, a new team in the Nigeria Premier Football League, had their very first win this season! They beat Bendel Insurance with a big score of 3-0. This exciting match took place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Saturday.
Right after the break, just three minutes in, Rivio Ayemwenre scored the first goal. He kicked the ball into the net after getting a nice pass from Waliu Ojetoye. Everyone cheered!
Next, Ikorodu City kept on pushing to score more goals. And guess what? They did it again in the 56th minute! Kelechi Onwe scored the second goal, making everyone even happier.
But Ikorodu City wasn’t done yet. Toyeeb Ajeyigbe scored one more goal just 14 minutes before the game ended. It was goal number three, sealing their fantastic victory.
In another match at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode, the team called Rangers, who were last year’s champions, tried really hard but lost to Sunshine Stars with a score of 0-1.
Stephen Chukwude of Sunshine Stars scored the only goal right before halftime, in the 43rd minute. This win was their third win this season, and it helped them climb to fourth place on the league table. What a great day for Sunshine Stars!
