Apapa Customs Command Boosts Q3 Revenue to N1.61 Trillion

Must Read

The Apapa Port Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) made N1.61 trillion from taxes between July and September 2024.

Mr. Babatunde Olomu, the man in charge at Apapa Command, shared this news on Monday in Lagos. This is more than the N1.17 trillion they collected in 2023.

Mr. Olomu said they achieved this by working hard and being honest. The command plans to keep working with everyone involved to make more money and stop people from sneaking goods without paying taxes.

In July, they collected N201.8 billion, and in September, they collected N193.9 billion. Mr. Olomu is hopeful they can keep doing well in the last part of 2024.

He said, “We are doing well in collecting revenue, and I believe we can do even better at the end of 2024. I thank our partners for helping us achieve this.”

“Stopping smuggling is proof of our success. Our security is tight, and we can catch smugglers and take away their goods,” he added.

Mr. Olomu also shared that new programs from their boss, Mr. Bashir Adeniyi, helped them succeed. Programs like advance ruling, time release study, and the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) program made a big difference.

He praised the team’s hard work. They checked goods carefully and gave extra notices when needed to raise more money.

He repeated that the customs office does not allow any smuggling. He asked those doing illegal things to stop.

Fighting Against Smuggling

The Apapa customs team works often with others involved at the port. This helps keep smuggling low.

They watch goods, check who uses the port, teach everyone about the rules, and train customs officers regularly to stop smuggling completely.

Mr. Olomu asked people using the Apapa port to talk to the dispute resolution team if they have any questions, promising that help is always available.

He thanked other government groups for their support and said the command will keep working with these groups to stop crime.
