PDP Criticizes Aiyedatiwa for ‘Deteriorating’ Health Sector in Ondo

Must Read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State is not happy with the governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, saying the health care in the state is getting worse.

The PDP says that since Aiyedatiwa became governor 10 months ago, hospitals and clinics have not been good. They believe doctors and nurses are leaving for better jobs nearby.

Kennedy Peretei from the PDP feels sad about this because many people used to come to Ondo State for good medical care, especially from other parts of the South West.

He also noted that rural, or countryside, areas suffer the most, as they have the least healthcare services.

“Once upon a time, Mother Luck helped Governor Aiyedatiwa rise to power after his boss, Rotimi Akeredolu, passed away.

“But now, it seems his luck has run out because the hospitals and health workers are facing big problems. Some people are sharing their bad experiences, hoping for things to get better, while others keep their worries to themselves,” Peretei said.

Earlier this year, the Nigerian Medical Association gave Governor Aiyedatiwa a warning when only 22 doctors remained in a hospital that used to have 150.

“Hospitals in towns like Iwaro-Oka and Idoani used to have more doctors. Now, they only have one each, causing many health problems,” Peretei added.

Meanwhile, Kayode Fasua, who speaks for Aiyedatiwa’s campaign team, says the PDP is not telling the truth.

Fasua explained that the governor has tried to make healthcare cheaper and better with a new plan across the state.

He said, “The PDP is making up stories about Governor Aiyedatiwa. The issue of doctors leaving is a problem everywhere in the country, not just in Ondo State.

“The government is hiring more doctors and health workers to fix this. The PDP just wants attention, so they are spreading untrue stories,” Fasua stated.
