Once, there was a smart man named Austin Okpara. He used to be the Deputy Speaker for a big group of leaders. Now, he is part of another big group called the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP for short.
Austin became upset with a man named Nyesom Wike. Nyesom is an important leader in a place called the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT. Austin didn’t like that Nyesom was trying to be the boss of two teams, the PDP and another one called the All Progressives Congress, APC.
One day, Austin went on a television show. It was called Politics Today. People asked him questions, and he answered them. He said nice things about a governor named Siminalayi Fubara. Governor Fubara did something brave. He allowed the local people to vote in an election even though the PDP and APC were not going to join in. Isn’t that like when you share your toys with everyone on the playground, even if some friends don’t want to play?
Austin asked, “Why does one man want to be the leader of both teams in our state?” He thought it was like having one kid try to be the captain of every team in a school, which isn’t fair to everyone else.
He was very happy with the new governor who he felt was more like a helper, not a bossy boss. He even made a joke that the other kind of governor would have heroes like someone named Adolf Hitler or Donald Trump.
Austin finally said that the election showed the people in his state were tired of being bossed around. They wanted their voices to be heard, just like how everyone wants their turn on the swings at recess.
