The Edo group lifts the suspension of two members

Must Read

The Edo House of Assembly has announced that the suspension of the two remaining legislators, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, has been lifted after five months.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the assembly suspended Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Isibor (APC-Esan North East I) and Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) on May 6 over an alleged plot to impeach the president and other senior officials.

However, in June Mr Iyamu was asked to return to the assembly after feeling remorseful, according to the assembly speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.

Agbebaku, at the resumption of plenary session in Benin on Wednesday, announced that the assembly had agreed to recall the two remaining legislators from suspension.

He congratulated Governor-elect Monday Okpebholo on his victory in the just concluded gubernatorial election.

The speaker, who noted that the governor-elect represented all the people of Edo, not just the All Progressives Congress, expressed hope that he would not be misled by sycophants.

Welcoming members after a very long recess, Agbebaku thanked lawmakers for diligently discharging their duties to ensure the passage of impactful bills and resolutions.

Likewise, during the plenary session, the assembly approved a calendar of 57 days of sessions for the second quarter of its second session.
