Former Big Brother Africa housemate Karen Igho, also known as Karen, has publicly announced her intention to divorce her ex-husband, Yaroslav Rakos.

The couple married in a private ceremony in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, in 2014 after a nine-year relationship; The union, plagued by challenges, produced two children in 2015 and 2017.

In a post on her Instagram account on Tuesday, Karen revealed the struggles she has endured, stating: “I am going through a divorce with my husband. “I have been homeless for a year and have been hurt sexually and physically, so if something happens, ask or hold the man who brought me to a country where I don't know anyone.”

The 40-year-old woman accused her husband of trying to take her children away from her under the pretext of claiming she is mentally ill, a claim she denied. “I'm not mentally ill and I don't do drugs,” she tweeted.

The Big Brother Africa 2011 co-winner, who moved to the United States, also asked her fans for prayers.

“Almighty God bless Nigeria and Africa. My heart prays for your daughter of the earth. I've been through a lot this last year. Please pray for me and my children. If you never hear from me again, you should know that they have killed me,” he wrote.

Karen rose to fame after winning the reality show Big Brother Africa in 2011. She was the first African and Nigerian woman to win the reality show after taking home $200,000 alongside Zimbabwe's Wendell Robert Parson. The Delta State native starred in the popular Nigerian reality show The Next Movie Star in 2009.
