Imo Police Arrest Four Child Traffickers, Rescue Three Victims Sold for N1 Million

Imo State Police have caught three people who took kids away to sell them for bad reasons.

The police, with the help of special detectives, busted this group in Owerri.

ASP Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer, said that smart detectives found out about this bad group and acted fast to catch them. This group was known for taking kids and selling them between Imo and Abia states.

On July 4, 2024, the police saved three kids who were taken from their home in Ndinwegbu Umuoma, Onicha, Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA.

The people they caught are Ifeoma Anyanwu, 41 years old, from Oloko Ikwuano LGA in Abia State, Chibuzor Lucky, 42 years old, from Umuezeala Umuerim, Ubakala, Umuahia in Abia State, Charity Kalu who is 24, from Okono, Ohiafia LGA in Abia State, and Isidore Ozioma, 56, from Umuhu Onicha, Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA in Imo State.

The police said that these suspects tricked the kids to get into their tricycle while the kids were playing outside. Then, they took the kids to a hidden place in Aba and sold them for 1,000,000 Naira.

The police are still looking into this case deeply at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in hopes to find more missing kids.
