Police officers in Nasarawa State have caught two people for stealing a child and a motorcycle in Keffi.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, who speaks for the Nasarawa police, shared the news on Sunday. He spoke for the top police officer, CP Umar Shehu Nadada.
In the first case, a lady named Khadija Aliyu was arrested on September 28, 2024. She is accused of taking a baby girl who was just seven days old. This happened at a naming ceremony in a house behind the INEC office in Keffi.
“Khadija said she was pregnant. She went to a naming ceremony at the house behind the INEC office in Keffi.
“During the event, she sneaked into the house and took the baby, who was sleeping. She carried the baby on her back, covered her with a veil, and left before anyone noticed. Later, we caught her,” Nansel said.
In another case, police officers from Angwan Lambu Division in Keffi caught a man named Hussaini Mohammed. He had just come out of jail a few months earlier and is suspected of stealing motorcycles.
“Hussaini lives behind the stadium in Keffi and had been in jail before. Police from Angwan Lambu Division caught him for motorcycle theft,” Nansel explained.
“When we checked, we found three motorcycles with him. We think these motorcycles are stolen,” he added.
Nansel said that anyone whose motorcycle was stolen should visit the Angwan Lambu Division in Keffi. They should bring proof that the motorcycle belongs to them so they can get it back.
He also promised that the suspects will face the law. Nansel asked everyone to keep working with the police to stop more crimes.
