The Edo State Police have caught a man named Richard John, who is 40 years old. He used to be in jail. They believe he was involved in kidnapping and stealing.
The head of the police in the state, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, talked about this on Friday in Benin City.
Edwin-Iwo also mentioned that there are other people in the gang who have run away. He named them as Ishmael Peter (the gang leader), Emmanuel Audu, and someone known as Lucky.
He said that Richard John was in jail with these other people at Koton-Karfe Prison in Kogi.
On May 7, these suspects went to the home of a man named Promise Ehichoya in Illela Quarters, Ekpoma. They tied him up, took him away, and asked for money. They got 6 million Naira before they let him go.
“They also took his car, phones, electronics, jewelry, and clothes from his house.
“The car, a Toyota Venza with the plate number LND 438 HM, was dumped and found by the police later.
“Using smart technology, the police tracked and found Richard John at Zone C area in Apo Resettlement Quarters, Abuja,” Edwin-Iwo said.
The police leader also said they are working hard to catch the gang members who ran away.
