ICPC Pledges to Eliminate Corruption in Basic Education Sector

Must Read

The group called the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has promised to stop bad actions in our primary schools.

ICPC leader, Musa Aliyu, made this promise during a three-day training for State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs) and the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT-UBEB) in Abuja on Tuesday.

Mrs. Grace Agha-Ibe, who is a top ICPC official, spoke on behalf of Musa Aliyu. She said she was worried about the damage bad actions have caused in schools. She urged everyone to work together to fight corruption and make things right.

She asked school officials to be honest and open in their work. She was concerned about what bad actions and hiding the truth do to our schools.

“Corruption is like a bad disease spreading everywhere, and our schools are not safe from it. The lower levels of schooling feel it the most,” she said.

“According to the British Council, about one out of every five children in the world who are not in school is from Nigeria.

“Children who do get to school often don’t learn much.

“This problem affects everything from signing up children for school, to giving them books and tools, hiring and managing teachers, checking how well they teach, and making sure schools are run properly,” she added.
