Lagos Resident Charged with Alleged N1.8 Million Fraud

Must Read

A 43-year-old man named Adekunle Abodunrin went to court in Badagry, Lagos on Tuesday because of a big problem with money.

Adekunle, who didn’t share his home address, is accused of three things: fraud, stealing, and causing trouble.

Adekunle said he didn’t do these things.

The police officer in charge, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that Adekunle did these bad things on August 2, 2023, at a place called Owode Plank Market near Luri Bus stop in Badagry, Lagos.

Officer Okuoimose said that Adekunle took N1.8 million from a man named Kasim Saka. Adekunle promised to use the money to buy wood from a place called Ondo State but didn’t do it.

Instead, Adekunle used the money for himself.

Officer Okuoimose also said that Adekunle’s actions could make people feel unsafe since he got the money by lying.

The judge in the case, Chief Magistrate Mr. A. J. Aina, said that Adekunle could go home if he could pay N500,000 and find two people who will promise that Adekunle will come back to court.

Those two people need to live close to the court and show they have paid their taxes to Lagos State.

The judge said they will talk about this case again on November 11, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
