Bauchi: 21-Year-Old Arrested for Grave Desecration and Iron Rod Theft

The police in Bauchi State have caught a young man named Dauda Saidu. He is 21 years old and picks up old things to sell. Dauda got in trouble because he messed up a graveyard and took iron rods from it.

The police spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, told everyone on Sunday that Dauda was caught on September 20, 2024. He was arrested for going into a place he shouldn’t have, breaking things, and stealing.

“Dauda went into the Yelwa Christian Cemetery in Bauchi and broke some graves. He took iron rods during the day,” Wakil said.

When the police asked him questions, Dauda admitted that he took the iron rods. He said he sold them to people who buy old metal. He got ₦9,500, ₦12,000, and ₦5,500 from selling the iron at different times.

Dauda also said he used the money to buy drugs and food for himself.

The head of the police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, said Dauda will go to court after they finish their investigation.

“The police chief also said that parents need to watch their children closely and make sure they are doing the right things,” the statement finished.
