Canada’s Express Entry Draw on September 19, 2024

On September 19, 2024, Canada had a special lottery for people who want to live there forever. This is called the “Express Entry draw.” Canada invited 4,000 people to apply for permanent residency under something called the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). This time, people needed a score of at least 509 to get an invitation. This score changed a little bit, just 2 points higher than the last time they had a draw.

This year, Canada had six of these special CEC draws, and so far, they have sent out 24,800 invitations. The score needed this time was 13 points lower than the first draw in May 2024. Canada’s immigration minister, Marc Miller, said that changing temporary residents to permanent ones can help the country manage its population better.

Details of the Draw

  • Program: Canadian Experience Class
  • Number of invitations issued: 4,000
  • CRS score cutoff: 509
  • Date: September 19, 2024
  • Tie-breaking rule: November 6, 2023, at 07:17:35 UTC

Ways to Improve Your CRS Score

If you didn’t get an invitation this time, don’t worry! Here are some things you can do to improve your chances:

  • Improve Language Scores: Do better on tests like IELTS or CELPIP.
  • Update Educational Credentials: Make sure you add any new degrees or certificates you’ve earned.
  • Gain More Work Experience: Work more years, especially in jobs that are needed in Canada. Having Canadian work experience helps a lot.
  • Seek Provincial Nomination: If a Canadian province wants to nominate you, you get an extra 600 points!
  • Secure a Valid Job Offer: A valid job offer from a Canadian company can give you up to 200 extra points.
  • Leverage Spousal Skills: If your spouse or partner has good language scores or education, it can add extra points to your score.

By following these tips, you can have a better shot at getting an invitation to become a permanent resident in Canada.
