On its official X account, INEC reminded everyone that political parties must end their campaigns by midnight tonight, Thursday, 19th September.

INEC stressed that it’s against the law for any political party in Edo State to hold rallies, marches, or run media campaigns after midnight tonight.

INEC also told parties, candidates, and their supporters not to wear campaign clothes or bring any campaign materials to the polling stations.

In their post, INEC said, “According to the rules in Section 94(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 and the Timetable for the 2024 Edo State Governorship election, all political party campaigns must stop at midnight tonight, Thursday 19th September 2024.

“It is illegal for any political party in Edo State to hold rallies, marches, or media campaigns after midnight tonight. Breaking these rules can lead to penalties as stated in Section 96 of the Electoral Act 2022.

“On Election Day, Saturday 21st September 2024, parties, candidates, and their supporters should not wear campaign outfits or carry any campaign materials at the polling stations.”
