Gunmen Assault Anambra Police Station, Resulting in Two Officers’ Deaths

On Monday, some bad guys attacked the Umunze police station and sadly, they killed two policemen who were working there.

The attackers came into the station, shooting everywhere, and set one of the buildings on fire.

Umunze is a small town in Anambra South near the border of Imo State.

Lately, there have been a lot of attacks on police stations in Anambra. The head policeman there is Mr. Obono Itam.

Many police workers have lost their lives because of these attacks.

The police in Anambra have said that the attack really happened.

A police spokesperson named SP Tochukwu Ikenga said in a press release that the police found some dangerous bombs that didn’t go off and are now trying to catch the bad guys.

He explained: “In the early hours of September 16, 2024, armed secessionist group members attacked the Umunze Police Station.

“Security teams made up of the Police, Army, Navy, Civil Defence, and other bodies found five unexploded bombs and are following the attackers.

“The attackers entered the police station with bombs and guns. Part of the station caught fire.

“Two policemen who were trying to stop the attackers sadly lost their lives. Their bodies have been taken to the mortuary.”

He added that CP Itam (the head of the police there) went to see the station to check out what happened and to make the security better.

He asked anyone with helpful information to share it with the police and promised to keep all information private.
