The First Lady of Edo State, Mrs Betsy Obaseki, said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not plan to influence the upcoming Saturday’s governorship election to benefit the All Progressives Congress (APC) by using “federal power.”
According to the DAILY POST, Mrs Obaseki made these remarks during an online TV interview.
“President Tinubu is smart and wise. He’s way above such tactics. I also want to thank former President Muhammadu Buhari for his dedication to democracy. He used federal power to protect voters, not to meddle with election results,” she explained.
Mrs Obaseki believes that President Tinubu would not interfere with democratic processes, given his history as a reformer during his time as the governor of Lagos State.
“President Tinubu, who is committed to good governance and continuity, would not mess up the progress made in Edo under my husband’s leadership, especially when the state has gained international recognition for its development.
“As the nation’s leader, President Tinubu would not support actions aimed at destabilizing a well-governed state. If every state governor follows the paths set by Edo and Lagos, one day we will all wake up to a thriving Nigeria,” she added.
