This is what Frank Edoho has been up to these days

Must Read

While it seems that the popular TV host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, Frank Edoho, lost his relevance after the show was retired, he has evolved to become even better and more mysterious.

The game show, which was based on the original British version, known coincidentally as “Millionaire” and popularly called “WWTBAM” in literary circles, aired for more than 13 years.

It ran from 8 October 2004 to 25 June 2017 before going on an indefinite hiatus following the withdrawal of its title sponsor MTN. It briefly returned between 2022 and 2023 before stopping again.

PREMIUM TIMES remembers Edoho, who hosted the game show for 13 years and became famous for his presenting skills and wit.

Following his departure from the spotlight, the 52-year-old has until recently failed to keep a seemingly low profile in his career despite having the platform to showcase his other ventures and skills.

In December 2023, Mr. Edoho made headlines when he was appointed as a brand ambassador for Diplomat Oral Care.

However, appearing on the latest edition of the YouTube show ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ with Adebayo Abidemi popularly known as Isbae U, Mr. Edoho revealed what he has been up to lately, acknowledging that WWTBAM, as it is popularly called, is the least of his achievements.

“Of all the things I do, ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ is the least of my experiences. I am a Blackmagic Design certified director, cinematographer and colorist. I learned that during the pandemic. I am the leading interior design photographer in Nigeria.

“I do voice-overs, I do presentations. As for production, this week I produced NIMASA, as I was a producer for two and a half years,” he said in the program broadcast on YouTube on September 14.

Mr Edoho has faced misconceptions as many assume the TV game show is the centrepiece of his career.

However, he dismissed this idea, saying: “WWTBAM is just something I do to show people that I can do performances. But there are many other things I do, like organizing events.”

Highlighting his extensive career, Mr. Edoho added: “I just returned from Las Vegas a month ago, where I attended the CERA Award.

“They picked me up in a limo at the airport, set up the event, I stayed for two days and then flew home. I have been putting on events for the past two decades. Anyone who says WWTBAM is the main thing I do is an ignoramus.”

Mr. Edoho appears to have a much more diverse and active career than many imagined.

Before the nearly five-year hiatus as host of WWTBAM, Mr. Edoho negotiated to become more than just a TV game show host, which everyone would agree is a smart move to move up the ranks.

However, the presenter left the show on 2 September 2017 due to a failed contract negotiation. However, the show returned briefly between 2002 and 2023.

He said: “I wasn’t fired. I left because I was negotiating to be something bigger in that ecosystem, but our negotiations reached an impasse, so I left for five years.”
