It also says the outbreak has killed four people, while 36 others are receiving treatment at various hospitals in the area.

Council Chairman Jibrin Ibrahim announced this to reporters during his visit to the victims at the Infectious Diseases Centre (IDC) in Yola on Sunday.

He said the outbreak was reported in the Alkalawa, Ajiya and Limawa neighbourhoods in the area.

“In the morning no less than 20 victims were reported, but now there are more than 40 cases and four have died.

“A good number of them have been stabilized because they have been receiving care from health personnel,” he said.

According to him, the alleged outbreak is due to water being contaminated due to flooding in some areas.

He called on people to keep their surroundings clean, make sure they drink clean water and wash fruits and vegetables before eating them.
