There is a conflict between Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom and Otulu, both in Delta State, Nigeria, about who owns some land.
Otulu people say that some people from Ogwashi-Uku are taking their land. They have asked the governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to help them. They say the leader of Ogwashi-Uku, Obi Ifechukwude, is making plans to take their land.
One of the people from Otulu, Nwaka, says their community is separate from Ogwashi-Uku and that the government should help them to stop any more trouble.
Nwaka also wants the governor and the police to tell the Ogwashi-Uku leader to stop. He warns that if nothing is done, things might get worse in Otulu. He asks for help to get their land back.
On the other side, Jude Obidi, a chief from Ogwashi-Uku, says the claims from Otulu are not true. He says Otulu has always been part of Ogwashi-Uku, and there are old documents that show this is true.
Obidi says that only a few people from Otulu are protesting and that they are trying to cause problems. He says these people are telling lies and making the community unhappy.
He also says Otulu is legally part of Ogwashi-Uku and that there are official records proving this. Anthony Enurah is the leader of Otulu, chosen by the Ogwashi-Uku leader and recognized by the Delta State Government.
The elders of Otulu, who have lived there for over 40 years, agree with Obidi. They say Otulu has been peaceful until recently, after some troublemakers were released from jail.
They think these released individuals are causing problems again, together with people like Nwaka. They thank Chief Enurah for working to keep the peace with the help of the police.
The elders call for the police to investigate the “United and Concerned Indigenes” group, which they say is disturbing the peace. They believe most of this group are not from Otulu but from nearby places and have no right to the land.
They ask this group to stop causing trouble and lying about history. The elders also believe that Charles Ogboli, wanted by the police, is supporting Nwaka and his friends to create trouble.
Finally, they state firmly that Otulu is a recognized part of the Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom and that this fact cannot be denied.
