What’s Happening with Dino Melaye?
Last Saturday, Dino Melaye, who used to be a Senator from Kogi West, said that you can’t stop the wind from blowing.
He said this after his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), told him he was suspended. Dino thinks the temporary boss of the PDP, a man named Illiya Damagun, is the real issue in the party.
Why did this happen? The local leaders from Ayetoro Gbede (Ward 1) said that Dino did some things that went against the party’s rules. They also said he did some other bad things.
These leaders tried to get Dino to come and talk about what’s going on. But Dino didn’t come.
Because he didn’t come to talk, the local party leaders decided on Friday to suspend him. They made this decision after looking at the findings of a committee that checked if Dino did those bad things.
The leaders who agreed to suspend Dino are Abayomi Osamika, the Ward Chairman, and Yodson Dayo, the Ward Secretary.
After the suspension, Dino posted a video on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the video, he said, “You can’t suspend the wind. Damagun is the root of PDP’s troubles. He’s all about his own needs.”
