Must Read

On Thursday, a very sad event happened in Ile-Ife, Osun State. An accident between a bus and a gas truck caused five people to lose their lives.

The crash caused a big traffic jam, and many travelers were stuck on the Ife/Ibadan/Lagos Expressway.

Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), told journalists about this sad event on Friday.

In the statement, Adeleke said that 17 people were traveling inside the bus when the accident happened. Five of them – two men, two women, and a little child – died and were taken to the morgue at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife.

He explained that the accident happened on Thursday, September 12, 2024. A gas truck ran over the bus, which people call ‘Sabo-Lagere.’ The bus had many passengers, and the truck crushed them. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch along the Ibadan Express Road in Ajebandele, Ile-Ife.

The NSCDC received the report around 12 noon. They quickly sent teams from their Ile-Ife Zonal Command and headquarters in Abere to help out, especially because the accident involved dangerous materials like gas (LPG).

Adeleke said that this accident was very sad and could have been avoided. He urged all drivers to be careful and obey speed limits while driving.
