The police chief of Zamfara State, Muhammad Shehu Dalinja, shared some sad news. He said that five police officers and two soldiers were killed by bad guys called bandits in a place called Tsafe Local Government Area.

These bandits tricked the security people by hiding and waiting for them on a road called Gusau-Funtua. They blocked the road to catch the police and soldiers by surprise.

“On Thursday, five police officers and two soldiers were killed while trying to stop the bandits’ attack on the highway,” he said.

The police chief said that the bandits wanted to attack a building company working on the road. They planned to kidnap some workers from that company.

Dalinja explained that the police and soldiers teamed up and went to the place where the bandits were. But the bandits were ready for them and started shooting.

“The bandits wanted to sneak into the Setraco Construction Company to kidnap some of their workers. When we heard about their plan, we quickly sent our police and soldiers to the spot. But we didn’t know the bandits were hiding and waiting for us on the road,” he said.

“On the way, our security forces faced strong resistance from the bandits. There was a lot of shooting. Sadly, in the fight, we lost some brave police officers and soldiers,” he added.
