The Joint Association of Medical and Health Workers Unions in Yobe has called off the strike which began on Friday morning.
The workers went on strike demanding payment of their risk benefits approved by the state government in 2019.
The union's state president, Satomi Hikama, revealed this to reporters in Damaturu on Friday.
He said the strike was called off after the union leadership reached an agreement with the state government.
“This morning we started a strike to demand the implementation of our risk allowances, about which a circular was issued during the COVID-19 outbreak to be implemented nationwide.

“In Yobe, only a few people currently enjoy these subsidies and other requirements.
“Following a meeting with Deputy Governor Idi Barde-Gubana, the strike has been called off as the government has committed to implementing the allocations by the end of September 2024,” Hikama said.

The union's members include the Resident Doctors Association of Nigeria, the Medical Laboratory Scientists Association of Nigeria and the National Nurses and Midwives Association of Nigeria.
