Child Labour: 13-Year-Old Found Selling Tickets to Tricycle Operators in Delta

Must Read

A 13-year-old boy named Christian was spotted selling tickets to tricycle drivers at Jigbale market in Udu LGA of Delta State.

This situation has made people worried about child labor. Many are asking why a young boy is made to work like this.

People who saw it said Christian was standing by the road, selling tickets to tricycle drivers who work in the area.

When someone talked to him, Christian said he had to work to help his family.

This is against the Child Rights Act, which says children should not be exploited or made to work in dangerous conditions.

Section 28 of the Act clearly states, “no child shall be subjected to any form of exploitation, including economic exploitation”.

A child rights expert, Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, criticized this situation, saying, “It is wrong for a child to be forced to work.”

“The government must take quick action to protect children’s rights and make sure they are not made to work,” he added.

The Delta State Government has been urged to look into this issue and take steps to protect Christian and other kids from being forced to work.
