U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria Move to New Visa Service Provider

Must Read

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will get a new visa service provider on August 26, 2024.

They’re changing because the current provider is leaving the visa appointment business.

The Embassy shared this news on their official website.

If you have a visa interview before or on August 16, 2024, you don’t need to do anything different. You can still use ustraveldocs.com to check your appointment details and get customer help.

Important Changes Coming

Appointments between August 16 and August 26, 2024, will be affected. You can keep your appointments, but after August 16, 2024, you won’t be able to use ustraveldocs.com.

If you have an appointment during this time, print your confirmation letter before August 16. If you miss your appointment, visit the new visa service website after August 26 to see how to reschedule.

For appointments on or after August 26, 2024, use the new visa service website, which will start on that date.

Remember, ustraveldocs.com will stop working on August 16, 2024, so print your appointment confirmation letters before then.

The new site will manage fee payments, scheduling, and customer service from August 26, 2024, onwards.

If you’ve already paid for your visa but haven’t scheduled an interview, do it soon. If you’re planning to travel to the U.S. in August 2024, pay the fee and book your appointment now.

If you haven’t paid the MRV fee and plan to travel after August 26, 2024, it might be better to wait until after the transition.

Key Dates to Remember

Here are some important dates:

  • August 8, 2024: Last day to pay visa fees in cash at the bank.
  • August 15, 2024: Last day to use ustraveldocs.com for fee payments, scheduling, and customer service.
  • August 21, 2024: Last day to drop off documents at Premium Delivery locations.
  • August 23, 2024: Last day to drop off documents at regular courier locations.
  • August 26, 2024: New visa services website goes live.

What You Need To Know

The change to a new visa service provider by the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will change how you book visa appointments. Applicants should note the important dates and follow the new steps to avoid any issues.

This change will make applying for a visa easier, so follow the new procedures to make sure everything goes smoothly.
