Edo Governorship: Civil Servants Will Thrive Under My Leadership — APC Candidate Okpebholo

Must Read

The race for governor in Edo State is getting intense. Senator Monday Okpebholo is running as the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC). He has some big promises if he gets elected. One of his main promises is that he won’t hire outside consultants to do jobs that civil servants can do.

DAILY POST shared that Senator Okpebholo also promised that civil servants’ monthly wage of N70,000 won’t be cut. This was in response to rumors spread by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking to APC members in Oredo Local Government Area, Okpebholo said his administration would focus heavily on improving education, health, security, and infrastructure. He assured everyone that Edo State would experience a lot of positive changes.

“This is a great time for civil servants in the state,” Okpebholo said. “There won’t be outsiders taking over their jobs. The salaries of civil servants will be safe and not reduced.”

He continued, “We will call a state of emergency in our education, security, health, and infrastructure as soon as we are elected. This way, Edo will start working again.”

To make these changes happen, Okpebholo plans to declare a state of emergency in all major areas. He even promised to hire 5,000 new teachers and give interest-free loans to market women to help boost their businesses.

Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, also spoke during the campaign. He asked people to vote for Okpebholo, saying that the PDP was no longer relevant in the state.

Oshiomhole explained that the nickname “Akpakomiza” means “redeemer” in the Benin language. He believes that Senator Okpebholo will save the people from the problems caused by the current Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration.

“Right now, our state is in trouble because of the current government,” Oshiomhole said. “But Akpakomiza (Okpebholo) will rescue us.”

Interestingly, some people who claimed to be members of Governor Obaseki’s family switched to APC during the campaign.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Edo State Governorship election for September 21, 2024.
