The leader of the Imo State Council of Elders and the ruler of Obinugwu, HRM Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, called the Supreme Court’s decision, which confirmed Governor Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the November 11, 2023, elections, a big win for all people in Imo State and the South East area.
Eze Ilomuanya, who is also a leader of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council and oversees Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, said that Governor Uzodinma’s work in the South East and his role as the Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum made this court decision even more important.
In a statement from his Press Secretary, Kennedy Eweama, he said, “Governor Hope Uzodinma’s win is a win for the whole South East, not just Imo people. The governor has shown great leadership in his area and needs support to continue his good work without distractions from many court cases.”
He also asked the governor to be kind in victory by listening to and valuing the ideas and help from those who challenged him in the election. These challengers simply want to help improve Imo State.
He asked the people who lost to see the governor’s win as something meant to be. He said that there can only be one governor at a time and asked those who ran against the governor to stop fighting and put Imo State first.
Eze Ilomuanya said that now everyone needs to support the governor for the good of all people. He believes the Supreme Court’s decision should end any fights.
