Armed Robbers Storm Oyo FM Station, Steal Equipment [PHOTOS]

A group of armed robbers broke into a radio station in Oyo State and stole equipment worth millions of naira.

The robbery happened at Ajilete 92.1 FM radio station, which is located in the Gambari area of Ogbomoso. The thieves also hurt the security guard working there.

Ajilete FM is one of the radio stations owned by the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS). This organization was set up by the government of Oyo State.

The robbers arrived early on Friday and took things like electric cables and other valuable items. They also damaged the station’s power generator by cutting off armored cables and messing up the transmitter house.

They even took the motorcycle that belonged to the security guard at the station.

The 70-year-old security guard was badly hurt. The robbers beat him, tied him up with ropes, and hit him in the chest with a gun.

The guard was taken to a nearby hospital where he is still getting medical care as of Saturday.

Kemi Ojelade, the Acting Head of Channel, confirmed the incident in a phone call on Saturday. She said that the BCOS management team, led by General Manager Mr. Goke Adelakun, visited the station to see the damage.

“Yes, it is true. It happened on Friday. The BCOS management led by the General Manager, Mr. Goke Adelakun visited us for an on the spot assessment.

The police have been informed about what happened. The Area Commander from Owode police headquarters, ACP Adigun Gbolagade, also came to the station to check it out,” she said.
