Otti-Kalu Dispute: Uzokwe Ndubuisi Criticizes Labour Party for ‘Double Standards’

Political Critique of Labour Party Supporters

Political expert Uzokwe Ndubuisi spoke about Labour Party (LP) supporters. He said they only remember some things and forget others, especially when it comes to a recent event. The event involved the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Okezie Kalu. Kalu invited Abia State Governor Alex Otti to come back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ndubuisi said LP supporters are being unfair. They do not remember that Otti has changed parties before.

He said, “At first, I did not want to talk about this. But it makes me angry that LP supporters forget that Otti did the same thing not too long ago.”

Ndubuisi shared Otti’s political journey. Otti tried to be the governor of Abia State under a different party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in 2015 and 2019. When that didn’t work, he joined the APC in 2020.

But when Otti didn’t get the APC’s ticket to run for governor in 2023, he switched to the Labour Party. He finally won the governorship through the Labour Party.

Ndubuisi said, “It’s interesting how people can forget things that happened recently, as if they have selective memory.”

He also compared how LP supporters acted during Otti’s campaign in Imo State to how they reacted to Kalu’s invitation.

Ndubuisi explained that when Otti was working hard for LP, everyone praised him. But when Kalu invited Otti back to APC, there were lots of negative comments. Ndubuisi thinks these comments were planned by Otti’s team.

“Nobody called him bad names or paid social media people to attack him,” Ndubuisi said.

He also wondered if Otti would be as loyal to the Labour Party if he campaigned in Edo State. He hinted there might be similar problems.

“Let’s see if he will tell his followers that Labour Party will take over the government in Edo State,” Ndubuisi guessed.
