Nollywood Yoruba Hit ‘Lakatabu’ Achieves N200 Million Milestone at Nigerian Box Office

Nollywood’s Yoruba film, “Lakatabu,” is doing great! It made N200 million in Nigeria.

The movie stars Odunlade Adekola, a famous actor. “Lakatabu” is one of the top-earning Nollywood movies of 2024.

Newslodge says the film made N47 million in its first weekend. Over 11,000 people watched it in cinemas. In one week, it made N94 million. By June 30, 2024, it earned N126 million, later reaching N168 million, and finally, over N200 million.

The movie came out on June 21, 2024, and was a big hit in Nigeria. Data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) shows that it was the highest-grossing film from June 21 to June 27, 2024, making nearly N65 million in that week alone.

More Yoruba films are getting popular on streaming sites like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Showmax. Movies like “Anikulapo,” “Ijogbon,” “Jagun Jagun,” and “Ayinla” are doing well globally.

“Lakatabu” joins other hit Yoruba movies like “Ajosepo” and “Ajakaju: Beast of Two Worlds,” which made over N250 million each at the box office.
