In Lagos, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) caught a trailer driver who hit someone with his truck and then tried to run away. This happened at Anthony Oke, near Oshodi.
Mr. Taofiq Adebayo, who speaks for LASTMA, told everyone about it on Monday.
Mr. Adebayo said the driver worked for Honeywell Flour Mill Plc and the truck’s number is JJJ 764 XV. The driver hit a person walking across the road near the Total gas station at Anthony Oke, heading toward Oshodi.
“The accident happened early in the morning and made many people worried,” he said.
“The person who got hit was badly hurt, with a broken left leg. The Lagos State Ambulance Service quickly came to help and took the injured person to a hospital,” he explained.
LASTMA workers who were there saw what happened and chased the driver. They caught him at Oshodi.
“The driver is now with the officers at Mosafejo Police Station for more investigation and will be punished,” Mr. Adebayo said.
LASTMA is very serious about keeping everyone safe on the roads in Lagos.
They work closely with the police to make sure people who break traffic rules face the consequences.
“We feel sorry for the person who got hurt and ask all drivers to follow traffic rules to keep everyone safe. If you have any complaints or nice things to say about traffic in Lagos, please call LASTMA’s Toll-Free Call Centre,” he said.
