The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, says that the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 21, 2024, governor’s race, Asue Ighodalo, is not liked by the people in the state.
On Friday, during an interview on Channels TV, Shaibu said that the PDP candidate is not welcomed by his own community because he cannot speak their local language.
Shaibu promised that Ighodalo, who is current Governor Godwin Obaseki’s chosen candidate, will lose the election.
He said, “We are now deep in politics, and we will see how Obaseki defends him. We are ready for him in this election.
“The people do not want Asue Ighodalo. Even the people from Ewohimi, his hometown, do not want him because he does not know their language.”
Shaibu also mentioned that Obaseki won the 2020 election because the voters felt sorry for him, believing he was being treated unfairly at the time.
