The Imo State Police Command has caught a young man named Elijah Chigemezu, who is 23 years old. Elijah was taking phones from people by using a gun.
The police also arrested two other men. John Chukwudi is 27 years old and comes from Ntu in Ngor-Okpala LGA, Imo State. The other man is Chibeze Tasie, 32 years old, who was caught in Naze.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, the arrests happened after a smart police operation. The police worked very hard and used good information to catch these men.
Okoye said that catching these men shows that the police are serious about reducing crime in the state.
John Chukwudi, who is 27 years old and from Ntu, was arrested on August 14, 2024. He was caught while the police were patrolling near Human Race Hospital Road, Nekede. The police found a homemade gun and five bullets on John.
John told the police that he is a member of a cult group called Black Axe. He said that another man, Ugochukwu Ndubuisi, gave him the gun. Ugochukwu is still free and the police are looking for him.
Elijah, who is from Ezzamgbo in Ebonyi State, was caught on August 11, 2024, on Cluster Road, Naze. He was in the middle of stealing a young man’s phone and other things by using a gun. The police and the military quickly came to help and caught him. They found a homemade gun on Elijah. He admitted to the crime.
As for Chibeze Tasie, the police caught him at No 1 Naze after carefully investigating a report of motorcycle theft in Nekede. When they questioned him, he admitted that he worked with another man named Ndubisi to steal motorcycles from unsuspecting riders in Nekede. Ndubisi is still on the run.
