Premier League: “It Doesn’t Add Up, Major Risk” – Murphy Criticizes Chelsea’s Recent Deal

Must Read

Former Liverpool player, Danny Murphy, has some questions about Chelsea’s decision to extend Cole Palmer’s contract at Stamford Bridge.

Last season, Palmer made Chelsea fans very happy and was their top player. Palmer scored 25 goals and helped with 15 assists in 45 games with coach Mauricio Pochettino.

He even made it to Gareth Southgate’s England team for the 2024 European Championship and played a big part in helping the team reach the final.

Because of his great performance, Chelsea decided to keep him longer by giving him a new contract that will last until 2033.

But Danny Murphy does not agree with this decision. On The White and Jordan Show, via talkSPORT, he shared his thoughts: “I think it’s crazy. It’s not just about the player, but the club is committing to paying him for nine years. What if he gets hurt badly? He might not play the same way or could change his attitude.

“It’s a big risk to do this with so many players,” Murphy continued. “Why would you give him a nine-year contract when he already had a seven-year deal? It just doesn’t make sense.”
