NSCDC Recovers Two Bodies from Pond in Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State found the bodies of two men who had drowned in a pond. This happened in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

The NSCDC spokesperson, Badaruddeen Tijjani, gave a statement on Wednesday. He mentioned that the tragic event involved two men named Abubakar Alhaji, who was 20 years old, and Abubakar Abdullahi, who was 25 years old.

These men drowned when they tried to cross the pond on their way to the market in Waza village. The sad incident took place on Monday at about 11 in the morning.

The NSCDC officer in Birnin Kudu, CSC Muhammad Garba, said that the team got a distress call from local people at around 11:30 AM.

Right after getting the call, NSCDC personnel and disaster management officers went to the pond to help. Community members also joined the rescue effort.

After searching for about 48 minutes, they found the bodies of the two men. The community members were a big help in this search.

The bodies were then taken to a health center in Waza. They were given to the families of the dead men, and the men were buried according to Islamic customs.

The NSCDC Commandant in Jigawa State, Muhammad Danjuma, shared his deep sorrow with the families. He also asked parents to be very careful during the rainy season because ponds and rivers can become very dangerous due to flooding.
