LG Elections: Former Governor Lamido Criticizes JSIEC for N5m Nomination Form Fee

Must Read

Alhaji Sule Lamido, who used to be the governor of Jigawa State and helped start the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that opposition parties can’t afford to buy the form needed to run in the upcoming local government election in the state.

Lamido shared his thoughts on the price of these forms for chairmen and councillors on his official Facebook page.

The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISEC) has set the prices for these nomination forms. A form for a chairman costs five million Naira (N5 million) and a form for a councillor costs two million Naira (N2 million).

Lamido said that the ruling APC party has already won the election even before it happens because other parties can’t pay for these expensive forms.

He explained, “The APC government in Jigawa State has WON all the Chairmanship seats for the 27 Local Governments and the 283 Councilorship seats in the local government elections that haven’t even happened yet.

“The reason is that no opposition party can pay FIVE MILLION NAIRA for the Chairmanship form and TWO MILLION NAIRA for the Councilorship form from the State electoral commission!

“While other states are complaining about hunger and poverty, congratulations Jigawa for being the richest state in Nigeria.”

Attempts to get a comment from the chairman of JISEC, Alhaji Auwalu Harbor, were unsuccessful as his phone line couldn’t be reached.
