Must Read

At least three people have died because of really heavy rain and flooding in Bauchi North Senatorial District.

DAILY POST found out that the rain fell for three days straight. It killed farm animals and destroyed farmlands and things like houses and roads, worth millions of naira.

When this sad event happened, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed, set up a special team. This team was led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr Ibrahim Kashim Mohammed. Their job was to see how bad the damage was in the areas hit by the flood.

This team included many important officials like the State Commissioner of Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka; State Commissioner of Housing and Environment, Rt Hon Danlami Ahmad Kawule; Commissioner of Works, Hon Ibrahim Gambo Galadima; Commissioner of Finance, Dr Yakubu Adamu; and the DG SEMA. There were also representatives from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The team went to Giade Local Government Area (LGA) to look at the damage. They saw that part of the Federal Highway between Giade and Shira was completely washed away and cars couldn’t use it.

They also checked out the Giade-Azare State Road and the Azare-Jama’are part of the Kano-Maiduguri Expressway. These roads were badly damaged by the flood too.

On behalf of the Governor, the SSG felt sorry for the victims and promised them that the government would give them help during this hard time.

While talking to journalists in Giade LGA, the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mas’ud Aliyu, said many people had to leave their homes because of the flood. Their homes and farmlands were destroyed.

Aliyu confirmed that three people had died and said checking the damage was still going on in the three affected LGAs.

He also mentioned that the state government would give relief materials to help the victims suffer less.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Giade LGA thanked the Governor for sending the special team. He noted that many communities and villages were underwater because of the flood.
