6 Reported Dead in Edo’s Escalating Cult Conflict

Must Read

Six people have sadly lost their lives due to a fight between different groups in the Auchi and South Ibie areas of Edo State.

Reports tell us that over the past week, these people were victims of fights between groups who call themselves cults. These troubles involved groups called Eiye, Vikys, and Black Axe, and not only did some people die, but others also got hurt.

At first, it was just the Eiye and Vicky groups fighting. But then the Black Axe group got involved after one of their members got hurt at a hotel because of a disagreement with the Eiye and Vicky groups.

Two people lost their lives on a Sunday. Then, between Tuesday and Thursday, four more people died, making it six in total.

This fight is not just in local communities; it has also reached a nearby university. Students were trying to focus on their second-semester exams when the trouble started. During this time, a driver was tragically killed on a Thursday when the sun was out, and everyone could see.

The story gets even sadder as it’s said that after shooting him many times without any bullets hurting him, his attackers tied him to a vehicle and dragged him down the road until he died.

The police, specifically a man named SP Moses Yamu, spoke about what happened. He didn’t share how many people got hurt or died, but he said that the fighting is now over and they are checking to find out more about what happened.
