5 dies in a fatal clash in IFE-Ilaa Road

A fatal road accident on the IFE -ila road has claimed the lives of five people, including a girl.

The accident, which occurred around Dusbin, involved a Toyota Hilux and a trailer.

According to Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, the accident occurred at approximately 10:15 am on Saturday, April 19, 2025, and was attributed to a traffic violation by the trailer driver, which led against traffic.

The FRSC OSun Sector command, in a report, confirmed that a total of nine people were involved in the accident, including six male adults, two adults and a girl.

According to the declaration of Agnes Oguggbemi, the Public Lighting Officer of the OSun sector: “Five victims, three male adults, an adult and a girl, were dead in the scene. An adult suffered wounds and was transported to the Hospital de Mayowa, Ipetumodu.

“The trailer, identified only as a white mark without a registration number provided, crashed with a white Toyota Hilux with the registration number FKJ691Hz, which is classified as a private vehicle.”

Ogungbemi, speaking on behalf of the sector commander, the body commander Ta Sokunbi, revealed: “The driver is currently in NPF custody and will be accused in court. The cause of the accident has been identified as a violation of the route traffic (conduction in a sense).

“Recovered from the accident site were personal belongings, including a small bag that contains jewels, several clothing and effective bags for a total of N508,900. These items were delivered to family members on the scene.

“The bodies have been deposited in the morgue of the Teaching Hospital of the University of Obafemi Awolowo. The vehicles involved in the accident have been assumed by the Nigeria police force, the Edun-Abun Division.”
