2024 Emmy Awards Recap: $250M Drama ‘Shogun’ Sweeps with 18 Wins

Must Read

The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards were a huge event! FX’s show Shogun did amazingly well. It won 18 awards, which is more than any other show has ever won. It really showed how good TV can be.

This show cost a lot to make — $250 million! But it was worth it because it won the big award for Outstanding Drama Series. It beat other great shows like The Crown, Fallout, and The Morning Show.

Shogun has ten episodes and is kind of like Game of Thrones, meaning it’s big and exciting. Most of the actors were from Japan, which was really special.

Spending $250 million on Shogun was a big risk, but it worked out. People loved it!

Famous actor Hiroyuki Sanada was a big part of this show. He didn’t just act; he helped make the show too. He even won the award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Key Wins:

  • Outstanding Drama Series: Shogun
  • Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Anna Sawai from Shogun
  • Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Hiroyuki Sanada from Shogun
  • Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: Billy Crudup from The Morning Show

Shogun was like Game of Thrones in how big and grand it was. It helped people see more stories from around the world on TV.

In comedy, FX’s show The Bear also took some big awards. Jeremy Allen White won for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach won for Supporting Actor. The show Hacks won Outstanding Comedy Series, and Jean Smart won an award for her role as an older comedian.

Comedy Highlights:

  • Outstanding Comedy Series: Hacks
  • Lead Actor in a Comedy Series: Jeremy Allen White from The Bear
  • Lead Actress in a Comedy Series: Jean Smart from Hacks
  • Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series: Liza Colón-Zayas from The Bear

For limited series, Netflix’s Baby Reindeer won big. Richard Gadd won Lead Actor in this category, and Jessica Gunning won for Supporting Actress. This helped Baby Reindeer do really well.
