In Adamawa State, 1,972 women got tested for cervical cancer. Out of these women, 165 found out they have the disease.
This information came out on Tuesday during a special meeting. The Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency set up this meeting at the Government House in Yola.
Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta shared that these 165 women will get more tests. These tests will help decide the best treatment for them.
At the meeting, the Deputy Governor explained why the group gathered. They wanted to talk about how well the health care system worked from January to July 2024. Professor Farauta praised the hard work done to teach about and test for cervical cancer in all 21 local government areas in the state.
They also discussed an outbreak of watery diarrhea in Yola North. This disease sadly took the lives of at least four people.
The deputy governor told health workers to act fast to control the outbreak. She also asked other important people in the community to do their part.
Idris Yahaya, who works with the local government leaders in Adamawa State, said they are dedicated to making sure people stay healthy and safe.
